THE VILLAGE

Growing up, for as long as i can remember. every summer my family would take off up island to a magical place, known as Honeymoon bay . A Small, rural logging community located on Lake Cowichan in the southeastern part of vancouver island . The name Cowichan comes from the alliance of approximately 41 somewhat afilliated that occupied the fraser river, delta, gulf islands ,and southern vancouver island . the name Cowichan means “warm land”

It is roughly  102 kilometeres away from Victoria . The place i call home . In my later years as an adolesecent , immaturity and irresponsibility played a big roll in not going up for many years. I was to cool for school, or so i thought . I truly did not start to fully appreciate the place until roughly 2015.. My mind was blown . Light, shadow, contrast and the trees, but particularly the light. It is completely different than the light i know of in the city. Many years later, you now long for the summers and that special place more than ever. The rivers, creeks ,paths and all the tributaries that lead to the main lake, i have wandered . Car relics, old logging trucks and cranes, are left all around the places that man has left behind over the years.
